Carlo Zappa was born in Monza (IT) in 1967.
He studied piano with prof. T. Airapetian and composition with prof. Carlo Pessina. He graduated in trumpet with Vito Calabrese and he graduated in composition and orchestral conducting at the Music Conservatory of Milan, where he studied with prof. Vittorio Parisi.
He took part to opera and symphonic masterclasses at the Music Academy in Pescara with prof. Donato Renzetti, in Szeged, Hungary, with Ervin Azel, in Siena, Italy, at Chigiana Music Academy with Gianluigi Gelmetti, in Milan with Piotr Wolny.
In 1991 he made his debut as conductor leading "L"Histoire du Soldat" by I. Stravinsky with the musicians of Teatro alla Scala.
He also performed with Orchestra Teatro San Carlo di Napoli, Archi della Scala, Orchestra Haydn of Bozen, I Pomeriggi Musicali of Milan, Orchestra Milano Classica, Orchestra Cantelli, Filarmonica del Conservatorio di Milano, The Jakarta Symphony, The Sofia Festival Orchestra, Orchestra Kurt Sonnenfeld.
Since 2008 he has been teaching orchestral conducting at Scuola Musicale di Milano in Foro Bonaparte.
